About the School

Churchend Primary Academy, home of aspiration, achievement and opportunity for all. We are a two-form entry primary Academy with a Nursery, located in Tilehurst, Reading, with 60 places in each year group.

Our educational journey embraces values of care, respect, positivity, aim high, resilience and responsibility, while our learning environment is calm, nurturing and inspiring. It is an Academy where our teachers know their children well.

Whatever a child’s background or starting point, we want to make sure that they finish Year 6 with the academic knowledge and social skills necessary to succeed in their future lives and become the best possible version of themselves.

We want every pupil to develop a lifelong love of learning and be well-prepared for their transition to secondary school.

To ensure this, we focus on academic attainment and improvement in every subject, supported by our rigorous, knowledge-rich curriculum that embraces the values of our multicultural community.

By working in partnership with our parents, staff and the community we serve we are able to unlock the unique skills and talents of each child.  Churchend Primary Academy has a broad and balanced curriculum which caters for a wide range of abilities and individual needs within a large site, including a Forest School which allows children to learn to have a lasting love of nature.

Why we joined the OLA

Churchend became a stand-alone trust in 2011 and has been able to develop into a strong and knowledgeable Trust. Therefore, our next logical next step was to join a forward-thinking group of schools to become a founding member of the Orchard Learning Alliance.

At Churchend we recognise the importance of working together to share good practice and gain expertise to ensure that all children, regardless of their starting point, achieve the best outcomes. The Orchard Learning Alliance offers a strong and robust School Improvement model at its core and Churchend Primary Academy is proud to work with other members of OLA to continually learn and grow so all children receive a high-quality education.

As a founding member of the Orchard Learning Alliance, Churchend has been able to collaborate with a wide range of schools to co-design the systems and structures of the Trust so that children across the Trust benefit from exceptional teaching. At Churchend we know that openness and trust from all school leaders, teaching staff and educational professionals creates a knowledge-rich culture where all children can flourish, and their skills and talents are unlocked.

The Orchard Learning Alliance offers a wide and extensive range of professional learning networks from which Churchend is both able to learn from and contribute to so that educational practice is shared and enhanced. This is one of the huge benefits to be gained by working collaboratively while still retraining our unique identity and serving the needs of our local community.
