About the School

Hillside is a ‘good’ (Ofsted November 2023) and thriving two form entry school with its own nursery and extensive grounds, situated on the edge of Lower Earley. Our values are at the heart of our school. We are dedicated to creating a safe, inclusive and caring environment, where we will support each other to flourish and succeed.

Whilst having high expectations for everyone, Hillside works hard to ensure it develops and nurtures the whole child, inspiring and encouraging children to achieve their highest potential. Children and families join our school from all over the world which helps us to celebrate diversity and collaboration within our community.

The staff at Hillside are committed to providing the very best learning opportunities and experiences for the children, including access to a wide variety of clubs and sporting competitions. Excellent teaching and the design of our curriculum equips pupils with the knowledge and skills for future challenges and lifelong learning.

It is our ambition to ensure children are taught to read as early as possible as this gives access to the wider curriculum, enabling children to gain knowledge of the world in which they live, and develop a love of reading.

Why we joined the OLA

As a school proud of its community, achievements, outcomes and values, it is important that we join a likeminded educational trust. By joining the Orchard Learning Alliance (OLA) we are confident that we will be supported with our holistic and inclusive approach to education.

By joining the OLA, Hillside school will benefit from collaborating with the wider community by learning from colleagues, improve outcomes further and continue to be a successful school.
